Ha, ha Tya finally went to see the Waurn Ponds Campus. This was where Deakin University was originally incepted on the 1st April 1977. Prior to that the name was Gordon Institute of Technology (Tafe),(GIT). GIT was originally at the Gordon Tafe building in the city, next to the Geelong Railway Station.

Architecture School was at both these campuses before moving to the Waterfront's Dalgety Woolstore building, at the shoreline of the Corio Bay. The designing architects, McGlashan Everist, earned an award on this for the President's Award for Recycled Buildings, http://www.archmedia.com.au/aa/aaissue.php?issueid=199711&article=14&typeon=2

This firm was co-founded by Neil Everist, who studied at the GIT,

One of its current director of "mearchitects" is Max Gurrie, who graduated from Deakin, and is married to a Malay lady architect from Penang, his classmate, by the name of Zarinan Zainul, practising under the name "Zarinan Gurrie & Associates Pty Ltd", zgarch@netspace.net.au
sharing the same office building.

Go check her out, a nice lady she is.

Have a good time in Geelong, Tya
